KW coilovers in a Honda Civic Type R

VTEC just kicked in, yo! KW Variant 3 and Clubsport out now

With the Honda Civic Type R, the Japanese car manufacturer, returns to the segment of compact sports cars.

The KW Variant 3 and KW Clubsport give you the possibility of a continuous lowering of 15 to 35 mm at the drive axle is adjusted directly on the stainless steel strut. At the rear axle, a lowering in the range of 5 to 25 mm can be carried out.

In addition to an approved lowering, the suspension kit made of stainless steel allows you to adjust the damping forces independently in rebound (16 clicks) and compression damping (12 clicks).

The damping characteristics that was determined after numerous driving tests on the motorway, country roads and on the KW 7-post rig, significantly improve the performance of the Type R.

Drivers with a KW coilover suspension kit installed benefit from our sustainable technology transfer from motorsport to the road. Compared to the other Civic models, the differences to the new top model are enormous. For example, the Honda features, a stiffer body and also a double-axle front wheel suspension with two axle journals, which are also used in the Astra OPC, Focus R.S. or Mégane R.S.. This minimizes the drive influences on the steering. Axle stubs and strut are separated at this axle construction in order to keep the ‘torque steer’ low at high-torque front wheel drive vehicles. With our Variant 3 coilover suspension, the Type R becomes an even more agile sports car.

For example, take into account the handling with changed wheel / tire dimensions, the rebound can be changed with 16 clicks. “If the rebound valves are further opened, the ride comfort when driving slowly is increased – in case you want it.

The twelve clicks of the compression damping also affects the tire grip, directional stability and handling characteristics.

The Variant 3 and Clubsport 2-way kit harmonizes well with the driver assistance systems such as the Honda Agile Handling Assist (AHA) and the Electronic Stability Program (VSA).

KW coilovers in a Porsche 911 G Body

Out now: full in compression and rebound adjustable KW V3 shock absorbers for the legendary Porsche 911 (G-model series) available

The classic Porsche 911 models have been characterized for decades by a timeless styling coupled with unadulterated sportiness. Everywhere in the world, the “911” is known as a sports car icon and the “G-Series model” enjoys an unimagined popularity.

And the demand for an individual suspension kit is accordingly high. From now on, in compression and rebound damping independently adjustable KW Variant 3 shock absorbers are available as a suspension complete set in galvanized steel housings for all Porsche 911 G-series model (from model year 1974) built from 1973 – 1989 also known as “G-body”.

Our full in the damping forces adjustable V3 shockabsorbers give you the possibility to adjust your own personal setting. The great advantage besides a quantum leap in terms of driving dynamics is that the “KW suspension kit” features spindle housings and dampers, so time-consuming strut conversions with replacement cartridges is not necessary. Also, the standard torsion bar springs on the front and rear axle can still be used.

Lesser body roll on bad roads and a more neutral driving behaviour – approved by the official German Porsche owners club*

With the integrated compression and rebound adjustment click adjusters, it is easy to individually adjust our recommended damper basic setup.

For example, with its 16 click setting, the rebound allows to directly take influence on the handling characteristics as well as the driving comfort. With the low speed compression valve, which can be adjusted in twelve clicks, the driving behavior of the Porsche classic can be further increased if desired.

A higher compression level on the front axle allows an even more direct steering, and on the rear axle, higher compression damping forces counteract the oversteering. Due to the degressive valve assembly of the preconfigured high speed compression valve, the damping is positively influenced in the case of a sudden driving over street bumps. The wheels can immerse suddenly and this for example prevents the jumping over road irregularities. A classic Porsche 911 equipped with the adjustable KW shock absorbers receives a much more direct handling.

The G-Body also gets significiantly more grip on the rear axle without an increased oversteer. Even the remaining comfort is increased. “I drove a lot of classic Porsche”, says Carsten Prochaska, President of Porsche Club für den klassischen 911 Südwest e.V. “But the new V3 dampers in a G-Body is the perfect kit even on bumpy roads I got a relaxed ride. All four tyres are always connected with the road and the steering is always direct without the typical oversteer. It is perfect and I will upgrade my Porsche SC with the new shock absorbers.”

The recommended retail price for the German market incl. 19% VAT without shipping cost for the independently in rebound and compression forces adjustable KW V3 shock absorber kit is 2.699,00 Euro.

KW coilovers in a VW Golf Mk7

For every demand the perfect suspension for the VW Golf Mk7!

Already in its seventh generation, the VW Golf sets the standard in the compact class. The stainless steel KW coilovers give the latest Golf a significant increase in driving dynamics and safety combined with a descent lowering.

KW Clubsport – the maximum driving dynamics for the road and racetrack!

The KW Clubsport coilovers are characterized by an uncompromising transfer of technology from motorsports to the road.

KW clubsport coilovers for a VW Golf Mk7

The KW Clubsport coilovers, available in KW Clubsport 2-way (independent rebound and compression adjustment with 16 clicks in rebound and 12 clicks in compression damping) and KW Clubsport 3-way (adjustable in 6 clicks in low-speed and 14 clicks in high-speed compression damping as well as 16 clicks in rebound), differentiate from conventional sport suspensions and coilovers by their high performance dampers. Of course, the KW Clubsport coilovers with their aluminum Unibal top mounts are street legal are the ideal performance suspension for all VW Golf drivers who regularly take part at track days and want to be competitive.

KW DDC – the (suspension)future is now!

For the VW Golf 7 with ACC (adaptive chassis control; also known as DCC – dynamic chassis control) the adaptive KW DDC Plug & Play coilovers are available.

KW DDC coilovers for a VW Golf Mk7

During installation, the adaptive series suspension is replaced with KW technology and the VW computer electronics immediately recognize the KW DDC Plug & Play coilover kit. All vehicle-specific suspension functions remain and the original control button will also be used. If the Golf doesn´t feature an adaptive series suspension, the KW DDC ECU coilover kit is the ideal retrofit solution including suspension control unit, cable connections and optional wireless module to adjust the suspension via smartphone.

KW coilovers Variant 1, Variant 2, Variant 3 and KW Street Comfort

KW Variant 1: With its preconfigured KW damper setup the “Variant 1” offers the optimum balance of sportiness and everyday practicality.

KW Variante 2: In addition to a continuous lowering, with the “Variant 2” the damper setup can also be made more comfortable or more sporty with 16 clicks of adjustable rebound damping.

KW Variant 3: The perfect symbioses of driving dynamics, every day practicality and setting options is offered by the KW Variant 3 coilover. In addition to a continuous lowering, a separate rebound and compression damping adjustment is possible. 16 exact clicks in rebound and 12 exact clicks in compression damping.

KW Street Comfort: If the standard sport suspension should be too rough in everyday life or if your lowering springs with the stock dampers doesn’t work so well after a while, the KW Street Comfort coilover kit is the ideal solution to get more driving comfort. The shorter KW damper housings allow a comfortable residual spring travel. In addition, the rebound damping can be adjusted more comfortable or sporty with 16 clicks.

The continuous lowering of the KW coilover suspension on the Golf 7 is achieved via the composite spring perch directly on the stainless steel strut housings dirt-resistant trapezoidal threads and at the rear axle height adjustment. So on both axles the Golf 7 can be lowered within the tested adjustment range of 35 – 65 mm (Street Comfort 30 – 55 mm).

KW coilovers in a Mazda MX5

KW suspensions awakes the full potential of the new Mazda MX-5!

We developed the KW coilovers Clubsport 2-way and Variant 3 for the new Mazda MX-5 (Generation ND). The roadster now benefits from an even more direct handling and a better grip with the adjustable suspension kit that allows you to independently adjust compression and rebound damping. It doesn´t matter if it is for the MX-5 with 131 hp or 160 hp. Both Mazda directly react to every driving maneuver and enable an extremely sporty driving experience without suffering in comfort.

In the eyes of many roadster fans, Mazda seems to have done everything right with the fourth generation of the popular MX-5: light weight vehicle, short wheelbase, harmonious design, nippy engines, rear-wheel drive and a fabric folding roof! Now, the KW Variant 3 coilover suspension and the Clubsport 2-way kit are available for the popular Japanese roadster. With the suspensions made of aluminum, the MX-5 not only receives an optically attractive lowering that can be set continuously from 20 to 45 mm at the four high-strength aluminium struts, but the car also gets an increase in driving dynamics.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Nordschleife, Spa Francorchamps or Fuji Speedway – KW Clubsport unleashed MX-5

The Mazda MX-5 also in its fourth edition is one of the most popular cars in amateur sports. It does not matter if the roadster is used for slalom or at track days on the circuit.

KW clubsport coilovers in a Mazda MX5
KW clubsport coilovers in a Mazda MX5

Exactly for this target group we have also developed our KW Clubsport coilovers for the current MX-5 (Type ND). The Clubsport and the Variant 3 both feature dampers that are adjustable in compression and rebound.

Due to the dampers, that are adjustable in compression damping with twelve clicks, the drive wheels always have traction. In addition, the dampers can be adjusted in rebound damping with 16 clicks, to further increase the handling. The independent compression and rebound adjustment allow to directly influent the rolling movements of the body.

The setting of the compression forces is made via an integrated click wheel at the lower end of the strut housing. The 16 clicks of rebound can be adjusted on the piston rod.

The rebound allows individual adjustments of the handling characteristics after changing the tire / wheel combination, so MX-5 drivers always have the option to choose the perfect damping setup.

The perfect suspension for every demand

KW coilovers in a driving Mazda MX5

The differences between the Variant 3 and the Clubsport 2-way coilovers is in detail. Both suspension kits feature fully adjustable dampers and the differences are in spring rate, valve damper assembly and the respective suspension design; not to forget the aluminium Clubsport top mounts. So the focus for the Clubsport coilover kit is on the regular use of semi slick tires on the race track and fast lap times.

KW clubsport coilovers in a Mazda MX5

The Variant 3 on the other hand has been developed for the sporty driving in everyday life. A roadster equipped with a KW coilover kit Variant 3 takes every curve very direct and fully lies on the street. Bumps and transverse joints are damped by the suspension, finally the days when a coilover suspension was hard at the same time, are long gone. “or example it´s often the case that for a lowering of 30 millimeters, the spring travel may be even ten millimeters longer than at the series dampers. So there is still enough comfort.

KW clubsport coilovers in a Mazda MX5

The adjustment of the continuous lowering between 20 and 45 millimeters is made directly via the trapezoid thread on the aluminum struts. While numerous other suspension providers rely on spring plate made of aluminum, KW only uses spring plates made of a polyamide composite material reinforced with stainless steel. So even after using it several winters it is easy to change the lowering continuously.

KW clubsport coilovers in a Mazda MX5

By the way we also developed our KW coilovers also for the first MX-5 generation build from 1989 – 1998 (Type NA), for the Type NB/NB-FL build from 1998 – 2005 and for the Type NC (build from 2005 – 2015).
